About Us
Dawg On It is a locally owned, family-operated dog daycare founded in 2015 by a husband-and-wife team, Lisa and Al Kelley. In 2019, we moved to our current location and proudly became Fairfield’s first and only family-owned dog daycare, licensed by the State of Connecticut.
Dogs have always been an important part of our family. We passed that love on to our daughter, Kai, who has helped at the daycare over the years and still lends a hand whenever she can. Our dog Maya also comes to work with us and is part of the Dawg On It family.
Being present at the daycare and taking a hands-on role in the dogs’ care are important to us. It gives us the opportunity to truly get to know each dog and their humans. From the beginning, the goal has been to create a welcoming, home-like daycare where we would feel completely comfortable bringing our own dog. Above all, we want every dog in our care to be happy, healthy, and safe.
It’s amazing to see the friendships dogs make at daycare. When they see their friends, they run right over to greet them. We love hearing that they do the same at the beach or park, where their families sometimes discover for the first time that both dogs come to Dawg On It. They form bonds with us, too. Some dogs have even led their families to our house on a walk, though their families had no idea where we live.
Our Space
We chose our location because it gave us something very important: a large outdoor space where dogs can truly run and play. We’re conveniently located about a mile from the Fairfield Metro train station and just off I-95.
Our outdoor play area is approximately 10,000 square feet, with play structures for climbing on, jumping off, and running through. We’re true believers in fresh air and outdoor time, so the dogs enjoy the yard throughout the day, except in extreme weather. Some love playing ball or running laps, while others are happy to watch the action, relax nearby, or head inside for a break.
Play, Rest & Routine
Inside, our large playroom has comfortable sofas where dogs can relax, nap, or simply watch their friends play. Dogs are rotated into smaller playgroups based on their personalities and play styles, giving everyone a healthy balance of activity and rest. Families may also send meals for dogs who eat during the day.
